Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Baroness Michie of Gallanach (Liberal Democrat), on Monday, 13 December 1993, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 20 members in total.
USE OF THE WORD AYE
That this House notes that the word Aye is recognised throughout Scotland as a clear alternative to Yes; further notes it is the only word accepted as an affirmative vote in the House of Commons; and accordingly asserts that its use should be universally accepted in courts in Scotland and throughout the United Kingdom.
