CARDIFF ROYAL INFIRMARY: COMMUNITY HEALTH COUNCIL DECISION

That this House applauds the democratic decision taken by Cardiff Community Health Council by a majority of 14-4 at its 17th October meeting to disagree with the recommendation of the South Glamorgan Health Authority to transfer all acute services out of Cardiff Royal Infirmary and the accident and emergency services to the University Hospital of Wales in particular; welcomes the Council's rejection of the appallingly incompetent report of the Independent Expert Advisory Panel supporting the health authority's proposal; and calls upon the Secretary of State to expedite these decisions which will now fall to be determined by him on the future of the Cardiff hospital services and to provide proper funding to implement his decisions not only on the accident and emergency services, access improvements and neighbourhood hospital services and without the further use of the delaying tactic and smokescreen of the Private Finance Initiative.
