Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Michael Alison (Conservative), on Wednesday, 1 November 1995, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 83 members in total.
TODAY IN PARLIAMENT
That this House congratulates the BBC on the 50th anniversary of the programme Today in Parliament; recalls that the injunctions of the BBC Director General, Sir William Haley, in 1945 that the programme should avoid expressions such a 'pointedly' and 'tartly' and that the report must be unembellished still apply in 1995; and urges the Corporation that a distillation of Today in Parliament, namely, The Week in Parliament, should be included henceforth in the schedules of BBC World Service Radio.
