COMMEMORATION OF VE DAY

That this House in commemorating V.E. Day 50 years ago, pays tribute to all the soldiers, sailors and airman who fought, and also the merchant seamen and civilian workers who served during the Second World War, remembering in particular the civilian population of Liverpool and the surrounding districts, many thousands of whom lost their lives; pledges itself to remember their sacrifice; and trusts that there will never be such a war again.
