HEPATITIS C AND HAEMOPHILIA SUFFERERS

That this House notes with concern the fact that over 3,000 people who suffer from haemophilia have been infected with the Hepatitis C virus through treatment with contaminated blood products, and that as a result many of these people now suffer from HCV; and therefore calls upon the Government to make ex-gratia payments to all those with haemophilia infected with HCV through contaminated blood products, to provide access to a hardship fund for those who become ill and the dependants of those who die, and to make payments, as a matter of urgency to those who are already ill and the dependants of those who have died.
