Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Stratford (Labour), on Wednesday, 14 December 1994, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 30 members in total.

CHRISTMAS TURKEYS

That this House congratulates John Gormley, the Lord Mayor of Dublin, for his decision not to accept the traditional gift of 50 Christmas turkeys unless they are free range; notes the predatory price war being waged over turkeys by leading food retailers and the resulting pressures on turkey meat production which already cause appalling suffering to the birds; calls upon Her Majesty's Government to introduce greater controls over battery production; and urges meat-eating Christmas shoppers to insist upon free range poultry.
