CARERS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

That this House praises the valuable and vital role played by the estimated six million carers in the United Kingdom; notes that the fourth annual Carers' Rights Day is being held on Friday 3rd December; welcomes previous improvements to the carer's allowance; recognises, too, that an estimated ??660 million of carers' benefits go unclaimed each year; and calls upon the Government to mount a campaign to encourage better take-up of allowances rightly due to carers in this country.
