Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Corbett of Castle Vale (Labour), on Wednesday, 12 June 1996, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 32 members in total.
BIRMINGHAM'S CITY CENTRE MINOR INJURIES UNIT
That this House recalls the vigorous campaign by the Evening Mail on behalf of several hundred thousand people of Birmingham to retain accident and emergency facilities at the General Hospital in the city centre; reminds the Birmingham Health Authority that the opening of a restricted hours minor injuries unit on the same site was always an inadequate substitute for full, city centre facilities; and calls upon the authority to rescind its emergency decision to close the unit to allow time for full and open consultation with community health councils and people living and working in the city.
