Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Cynog Dafis (Plaid Cymru), on Wednesday, 3 April 1996, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 11 members in total.

FISHING VESSEL SAFETY

That this House notes with regret the fact that grants to improve safety on fishing vessels under the Fishing Vessels (Safety Improvements) (Grants) Scheme 1995 are available only to vessels over 12 metres in length; recognises that smaller fishing vessels are also required to conform with demanding and expensive-to-implement safety requirements; believes that such craft deserve equal support as an important component in local economies; and calls upon the Government to ensure that eligibility for such grants be extended to vessels of under 12 metres in length.
