Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Bilston (Labour), on Tuesday, 16 April 1996, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 77 members in total.
BRITISH STEEL AT WOLVERHAMPTON
That this House congratulates the workers of British Steel Cable Street Rolling Mills in their resolute opposition to the closure of their works which British Steel Engineering Steels recognise produce excellent products at competitive prices and which have shown profits in recent years; and therefore calls upon British Steel to withdraw their closure proposals, retain the dedicated workforce and quality products and continue with their historical presence in Wolverhampton which has served the British iron and steel industry admirably and efficiently over many years.
