Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Max Madden (Labour), on Tuesday, 6 February 1996, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 46 members in total.
GLIDEWELL PANEL
That this House congratulates the Council of Churches, the Refugee Council, Justice and others on sponsoring the Glidewell Panel, chaired by Sir Iain Glidewell; understands the panel will invite individuals and organisations to submit oral and written evidence about the impact of the Asylum and Immigration Bill; believes the panel will demonstrate the useful role of the special standing committee procedure; regrets the Standing Committee on the Asylum and Immigration Bill was denied that opportunity; and believes it would have been extremely helpful for the standing committee to have received factual evidence from those engaged in helping, advising and representing those who will be adversely affected by the provisions of the Asylum and Immigration Bill.
