Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Keith Hampson (Conservative), on Thursday, 8 February 1996, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 18 members in total.

CONDUCT OF THE HON MEMBER FOR BIRMINGHAM (SMALL HEATH) AND PRIVATE EDUCATION

That this House congratulates the honourable Member for Birmingham, Small Heath, for putting his children above his party's dogma by sending them to private schools in South East London; notes that he felt impelled to do so due to his disillusionment with the standard of council schools in Labour-controlled Lewisham but questions his consistency of judgement in choosing private education for his own family, whilst opposing the assisted places scheme and its expansion, which makes the same opportunities possible for his own constituents.
