Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor David Atkinson (Conservative), on Thursday, 31 October 1996, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 39 members in total.

RIGID LABOUR MARKETS AND UNEMPLOYMENT

That this House is alarmed to learn that the European Commission has suppressed evidence showing a clear link between rigid labour markets and unemployment; questions as to what extent suppression of the truth occurs in the EC; notes that the success of the United Kingdom economy with flexible labour markets and low unemployment provides the clearest evidence yet; and calls upon the Commission to make public the report for the benefit of the millions of jobless in the European Union.
