DYSLEXIA

That this House notes the hundredth anniversary of the first case of dyslexia in both the code of practice on the identification and assessment of special educational needs and in the guidance issued by the Government under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995; and calls upon the Government to ensure full coverage of dyslexia in the new national teacher training curriculum from September 1997 and to assist local education authorities to fund teachers' professional development in this area.
