Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Frank Roy (Labour), on Monday, 8 June 1998, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 18 members in total.

SNP AND CANDIDATE SELECTIONS

That this House notes the failure of the Scottish Nationalist Party's leadership to trust their members with the selection of candidates for the Scottish Parliament, for fear that selections will be hijacked by a few extremists; calls upon that party's leadership to state who those extremists are and to say whether Margo MacDonald and Alex Neil are amongst them; and further contrasts the SNP's fear of its members with the Scottish Labour Party's decision to let its members select candiates for the forthcoming Scottish Parliament elections in a one member one vote ballot.
