Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Alex Salmond (Scottish National Party), on Tuesday, 10 March 1998, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 6 members in total.
LABOUR'S SCOTTISH CONFERENCE
That this House notes events at Labour's Scottish Conference in Perth where the leadership lost three votes - on social security, Trident nuclear weapons, and transport - and used procedural devices, including the re-running of a ballot and refusing a card vote, in order to avoid losing three more, on the Private Finance Initiative, tuition fees and local authority funding; and agrees with the Conference that the Labour leadership's policy of cutting lone-parent benefits is economically inept, morally repugnant, and spiritually bereft.
