CONDUCT OF THE HONOURABLE MEMBER FOR EASTWOOD

That this House notes with concern the misleading and off message comments from the honourable Member for Eastwood on the Scottish Television programme Trial by Night when he claimed that Her Majesty's Government's New Deal for the young unemployed guarantees participants a payment of ??120 per week; notes that the Department of Employment and Education made clear that only the minimum payment of ??60 is guaranteed; and seeks assurances from the Government that such inaccurate comments will not be repeated and that it will apologise to the aforesaid television company which was attacked by the Scottish Labour Party in defence of the Chancellor's aide.
