Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Ann Clwyd (Labour), on Wednesday, 4 February 1998, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 102 members in total.

NELSON MANDELA

That this House is appalled at the disgraceful and jaundiced attack on the character and achievement of Nelson Mandela by broadcaster Brian Walden in a BBC TV programme on 3 February; and believes that the vast majority of people in the United Kingdom consider that President Mandela is one of the great figures of the 20th century and that admiration for his courage and statesmanship is shared throughout the world.
