Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Oliver Letwin (Conservative), on Wednesday, 12 November 1997, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 7 members in total.
PLAY GROUPS
That this House notes with concern the increasing acceptance and encouragement of the entry of four year olds to primary schools and the negative impact that this is having on play groups; acknowledges that primary school teachers are not trained in the appropriate skills for under fives and that the larger class sizes do not allow for the individual attention available at play groups; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to restrict early entry for the benefit of pupils and play groups.
