Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Cynog Dafis (Plaid Cymru), on Tuesday, 4 November 1997, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 3 members in total.
NANT-Y-GWYDDON LANDFILL SITE, RHONDDA
That this House condemns the action of Rhondda Waste Disposal Ltd in seeking to victimise leaders of the Rhondda Against Nant-y-Gwyddon Tip campaign and the two local Plaid Cymru councillors by serving them with a High Court writ; notes that the local community regards the tip as a source of nuisance and pollution that is damaging people's health; considers that the actions of the company, which is controlled by the Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council is especially shameful in that it preceded completion of a health study commissioned by the Council itself; is astonished to discover that the findings of this are now being covered up, and that its contents have not been disclosed even to Council members themselves; congratulates local drivers and crews who have expressed their solidarity with the local people; and extends its best wishes for a successful outcome to the campaign to ensure that the site is safe.
