NATIONAL SPACE SCIENCE CENTRE

That this House congratulates Leicester's National Space Science Centre on its endorsement by the Millennium Commission as the landmark Millennium project for the East Midlands; salutes Leicester University, Leicester City Council and other sponsors for developing a project which will build upon the University's world-class space science research, create an exciting new tourist and leisure attraction, provide substantial educational facilities and open up a site of great natural beauty; expresses its confidence that the relocation of the existing site users and the extension of transport facilities will improve local residents' quality of life; and urges the government to support this outstanding Millennium venture.
