Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Malcolm Chisholm (Labour), on Tuesday, 15 June 1999, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 44 members in total.
NUCLEAR WEAPONS AND INTERNATIONAL LAW
That this House recalls that the International Court of Justice in its advisory opinion of 8th July 1996 ruled unanimously that there is an obligation at international law upon nuclear weapons states 'to bring to a conclusion negotiations leading to nuclear disarmament in all its aspects'; and calls upon the Government to report before the end of the current Parliamentary session on all measures they have taken to comply with this legal obligation.
