Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Paul Burstow (Liberal Democrat), on Tuesday, 6 July 1999, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 27 members in total.
AVAILABILITY OF PUBLIC TEXTPHONES
That this House believes that the current nationwide provision of 84 public text phones is inadequate; notes that in the past two years there has been no increase in the number of public textphones; is concerned that plans to increase the number of public textphones to 400 by 2000 have been dropped or postponed; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to take action urgently to improve access to telecommunications for deaf and hearing-impaired people.
