Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Wigley (Plaid Cymru), on Wednesday, 20 January 1999, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 18 members in total.
COMMUNITY CARE GRANTS
That this House calls on the Government to include in discretionary Social Fund Direction 25, provision for 16 to 18 year olds participating in youth training programmes, thereby allowing them to apply for community care grants; deplores the current situation whereby a vulnerable group within the community is excluded from eligibility to Social Fund grants; and believes that extending Social Fund Direction 25 to include 16 to 18 year olds would be in keeping with the Government's proclaimed aim of alleviating homelessness and social exclusion.
