Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Jones of Cheltenham (Liberal Democrat), on Tuesday, 9 February 1999, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 3 members in total.

STEVENAGE BOROUGH F.C.

That this House deplores the decision by the Football Association to permit Steventage Borough F.C. to remain in the FA Umbro Trophy competition after fielding an ineligible player in a previous round; calls on the Football Association to investigate the sendings off of two players during the drawn fourth round match at Cheltenham on Saturday 6th February; further calls on the Football Association to investigate why Stevenage Borough were unable to clear the lines of snow at half-time during the replay on 8th February, when they were losing 0-1, thus causing the match to be abandoned; and under the circumstances believes that, in the interests of sportsmanship and integrity, the tie should be awarded to Cheltenham Town F.C.
