SECURITY OF TAXI DRIVERS
That this House welcomes the decision of Greater Manchester Police to make alarms available to taxi drivers in Bury; notes the continuing vulnerability of all taxi drivers to aggressive and violent behaviour from pasengers, frequently as a result of intoxication from drugs and alcohol; and calls on the Government urgently to discuss with local licensing authorities the scale and extent of this problem with a view of improving systems and procedures to enhance the safety of all taxi drivers in the United Kingdom.
