ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS
That this House welcomes the 50th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; recognises that it was developed in response to the atrocities of the Second World War; notes that it set out fundamental human rights for the dignity and development of all human beings; recognises that increasing globalisation of international law and the lead that Her Majesty's Government, particularly the Home Secretary, has taken to follow the principles laid down; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to continue to do everything possible to ensure that the rights laid down in the Declaration become a reality throughout the world for all human beings.
