WORLD FOOD DAY 2000

That this House congratulates the United Nations on the success of its recent world food day, which has once again highlighted the problem of world hunger that at the beginning of the third millennium more than 800 million men, women and children are chronically hungry; recognises that hunger not only cost lives, it also damages the peace and prosperity of nations; and calls upon the Government to continue to do everything within its power to attempt to eradicate world hunger and work towards a millennium free from hunger.
