Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lawrence Cunliffe (Labour), on Monday, 20 December 1999, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 72 members in total.
JOBSEEKERS ALLOWANCE AND TERM-TIME ONLY WORKERS
That this House views with concern the refusal of the Benefits Agency to pay the jobseeker's allowance to term-time only workers, especially low paid workers in the education service, during the unpaid holiday periods; considers the money saved in the benefits system as insignificant, but crucial to many penalised individuals; and believes that the Government should urgently review this unfair and unjust anomaly as part of its anti-poverty strategy.
