Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Brian Sedgemore (Labour), on Monday, 18 December 1989, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 21 members in total.
Arts Council Funding of Kent Opera
That this House believes that the decision of the Arts Council, confirmed on 18th December, not to fund Kent Opera represents artistic vandalism and national degradation; and calls on the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Right honourable Member for Huntingdon, who describes his recreation in Who's Who as opera, to intervene with the Chairman of the Arts Council, Mr Peter Palumbo.
