ION RATIU
That this House records with respect the death of Ion Ratiu, a great Romanian patriot, who campaigned from London to restore freedom and democracy to his native land for more than 50 years: pays tribute to his courage and determination which played a significant part in rescuing many democrats from the dictatorial regime in Romania as well as turning the tide against totalitarianism through his writings, broadcasts and political campaigning; remembers with affection a charming, cultured and urbane friend; and expresses deepest sympathy to his widow and sons.
