Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Ted Leadbitter (Labour), on Tuesday, 19 December 1989, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 29 members in total.

Conduct of the Hon. Member for Langbaurgh

That this House notes the honourable Member for Langbaurgh first contested the Cleveland constituency in 1983 having contested the Brent South constituency Parliamentary seat in 1974, after serving on the Brent Borough Council from 1963-74, then moving to become a member of Wycombe Borough Council in 1976, later becoming a member of Buckinghamshire County Council in 1981 and the Thames Water Authority the same year; regrets that in moving from the South to the North himself with some record of carpet-bagging he should resort to derogatory references to the successor to the honourable Member for Hartlepool to contest the seat in the next general election in terms more applicable to himself; and further regrets he did so in the knowledge that the successor has applied only once in his public life for a Parliamentary seat.
