Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Hilton Dawson (Labour), on Thursday, 5 April 2001, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 46 members in total.
RAIL FARES (No. 2)
That this House deplores the proposal by Virgin Trains to increase fares by almost 10 per cent. on the West Coast Main Line; considers that fare increases on this scale will work directly against Government policy to increase the use of railways by the general public; and calls upon the Government to review whether it considers any part of the private sector fit to run a passenger railway for the 21st century.
