Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Alan Simpson (Labour), on Wednesday, 25 April 2001, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 120 members in total.
MEMBERS' STAFF SALARIES
That this House welcomes the SSRB recommendations on the reform of honourable Members' staff salaries; agrees with the SSRB that the new system should be in place immediately following the General Election; believes it would be quite wrong for narrow calculations of party of political advantage to be used to delay the decent treatment of honourable Members' staff; and calls on the Government to allocate parliamentary time to endorse these proposals forthwith.
