DIABETES NATIONAL SERVICE FRAMEWORK

That this House welcomes Diabetes UK's 'Diabetes Pledge' which highlights the seriousness of diabetes as a growing health challenge, currently consuming nine per cent. of the NHS budget; notes the challenge set out in the Pledge that people with diabetes must be diagnosed as early as possible, that they deserve to receive the best standards of care irrespective of who they are, where they live or their complications, that the ethos of patient-centred care must be fully extended to diabetes care provision and diabetes services must be adequately resourced; further welcomes Her Majesty's Government's commitment to develop a Diabetes National Service Framework; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to ensure the Framework reflects the real needs of people with diabetes as identified by the Pledge.
