Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Harry Barnes (Labour), on Monday, 12 March 2001, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 47 members in total.
POLICE PENSIONS SCHEME
That this House notes that the Police Pensions Scheme limits the payments for widows of post-retirement marriage to the period of service undertaken by their husbands from 6th April 1978; is aware that this leads to a situation in which a number of widows do not qualify under the scheme; and believes that the service undertaken by their husbands prior to 6th April 1978 should also be taken into account.
