Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Eric S Heffer (Labour), on Wednesday, 10 January 1990, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 34 members in total.

Trade Union Rights

That this House believes that 100 per cent. trades unionism, namely the closed shop, is of fundamental importance to the workers and the trades union movement, further believes the closed shop is a fundamental right, long accepted in Britain by workers who believe that the real defence of workers' interests is trade union organisation; and is therefore totally opposed to those employers and Governments who are basically opposed to the principle of trades unions and who wish to destroy them as organisations who defend workers' rights.
