SCHOOL UNIFORMS
That this House believes that local education authorities' discretionary powers should be replaced with a statutory duty to provide assistance with school clothing costs to low income families; urges the Government to consider providing funding and setting minimum standards for criteria governing eligibility levels of grants, payments and accessibility of schemes; and calls upon the Department for Education and Employment to issue guidance on good practice in school clothing grant schemes incorporating a set of minimum standards.
