Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Brian Iddon (Labour), on Wednesday, 17 January 2001, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 86 members in total.

CANCER RESEARCH CAMPAIGN'S LUNG CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

That this House congratulates the CRC on designating January 2001 Lung Cancer Awareness Month; notes that this disease claims around 33,4000 lives in the UK, more than any other disease except heart disease; notes a recent Mori poll which reports that 70 per cent. of UK citizens believe that smokers bring the disease upon themselves; and calls upon the Government, healthcare workers, and the general public not to discriminate against smokers, which is inhibiting the victims from seeking diagnosis and treatment and undermining efforts to tackle and defeat lung cancer.
