Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Elfyn Llwyd (Plaid Cymru), on Wednesday, 6 December 2000, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 10 members in total.
RAILWAY SYSTEM
That this House condemns the consequences of privatisation visible in the present crisis in the railway system; deplores the lack of government action to solve the problem; and expresses a complete lack of confidence in Railtrack's governing board; therefore calls on the Government to return Railtrack to public ownership to ensure that public safety is put before profit; and calls on the Government to introduce legislation to devolve power over the railways in Wales to the National Assembly, and the creation of a separate Welsh public transport authority to create a truly integrated public transport system in Wales.
