ELEVENTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CLOSURE OF BCCI

That this House notes that 5th July marks the 11th anniversary of the closure of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International; further notes the fact that when the Bank closed, the millions of depositors including Channel 4 and many local authorities, including Western Isles, were told that they had no prospect of recovering their money; welcomes the payment back to creditors of 60 per cent. of their deposits over the last decade; further welcomes the announcement that the ex-employees of BCCI have now reached an agreement with the creditors and the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry to ensure that all outstanding matters are dealt with so that this long liquidation can be brought to an end.
