Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Denis Murphy (Labour), on Tuesday, 12 February 2002, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 22 members in total.
CLOSURE OF MORPETH CROWN POST OFFICE
That this House deplores the decision of Consignia to close its Crown Post Office in Morpeth which is one of only two Crown offices in Northumberland; is deeply concerned that this decision has been made with undue haste and without regard for the views of the people of Morpeth, the staff or the CWE; recognises that the Post Office staff have provided an excellent service for many years; and calls upon Consignia to listen to the views of local people and retain the Crown Post Office in its current location.
