Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Alan Williams (Labour), on Monday, 29 October 2001, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 43 members in total.
WEEKEND OF MULTI-FAITH PRAYER FOR WORLD PEACE
That this House, recognising the symbolism of Remembrance Sunday as a reminder of the tragic losses in war, asks the churches to dedicate this year's services especially to a weekend of prayer for peace and freedom from terrorism; invites the leaders of other faiths in our now diverse society to join the churches by similarly dedicating their main service in the days closest to Remembrance Sunday; believes that this could help focus on the reality that there is cross-faith unity in the desire for all our people to live in friendship, regardless of race or religion; and believes everyone can join in a common wish for all our children to live in peace.
