Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Joan Ruddock (Labour), on Thursday, 8 November 2001, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 124 members in total.

WWF 95+ GROUP 10th ANNIVERSARY

That this House congratulates WWF 95+ Group on their 10th anniversary celebrations; notes that this unique group of companies is committed to the principle of purchasing their wood and wood products from well-managed independently certified forests; is delighted that since 1991 WWF 95+ Group has grown to over 100 companies and organisations working in partnership with WWF; welcomes the fact that there are now over 10,000 Forest Stewardship Council certified product lines available from group members alone including office furniture, paper and construction products; is concerned that whilst progress has been made, a significant proportion of the UK's timber is still not coming from certified, well-managed sources such as that certified by the FSC; and urges the Government to fast track its commitment to implement its responsible purchasing policy for timber and timber products and to provide strong, clear guidance to ensure that local authorities also procure timber from independently certified, well-managed forests.
