Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Jon Owen Jones (Labour and Co-operative Party), on Thursday, 5 July 2001, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 4 members in total.

MR MIKE GERMAN

That this House notes that probity is the most precious asset of any public institution and views with alarm the fraud investigation into the European unit of the Welsh Joint Education Committee when headed by Mr Mike German, now leader of the Liberal Democrats in Wales and Deputy First Secretary of the Welsh Assembly; further notes that an independent report by the auditor Bently Jennison raises serious questions concerning credit card expenditure and the validity of a number of European trips, in particular a visit to Vienna by Mike German together with Jenny Randerson which coincided with a Liberal Democrat Conference; and further notes that Mr German has stated that he was in Stuttgart on WJEC business until 9th July 1996, however several receipts would indicate that he was in Vienna at least a day earlier, indicating that clearly either these receipts are forgeries or Mr German is lying.
