WORLD ALZHEIMER'S DAY

That this House supports the aims of World Alzheimer's Day 2003 which falls on 21st September; praises the continued work of the Alzheimer's Society, Alzheimer Scotland - Action on Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease International to raise awareness of the needs of people with dementia and their carers all over the world; encourages the general public to participate in memory walks in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and tea parties in Scotland; fully supports the message of World Alzheimer's Day emphasising the importance of people with dementia and their carers developing positive relationships with health care professionals; and calls on the Government to ensure that people with dementia and their carers in the United Kingdom receive high standards of care to enable them to cope with the challenges which they meet throughout the progress of their condition.
