Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Mike Weir (Scottish National Party), on Wednesday, 11 June 2003, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 48 members in total.

COST OF REMOVAL FROM UNSOLICITED FAX LISTS

That this House notes the continuing and increasing use by some operators of unsolicited faxes, which clog up fax machines with unwanted letters and use up consumables; notes that whilst these correctly state that recipients can be removed from mailing lists by phoning the operators concerned the cost of such calls must be borne by the recipient of the fax; believes that such costs should be borne by the sender of the unsolicited fax; and calls on the Government to introduce regulations to ensure that such phone lines are free to the recipients of unsolicited faxes.
