Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Ken Purchase (Labour), on Tuesday, 8 July 2003, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 28 members in total.

DEMOCRATICALLY-CONTROLLED HOUSING

That this House deplores the pejorative use of the term 'social housing' by housing professionals and right-leaning politicians, to distinguish homes in the collective ownership of democratically elected councils and housing mutuals, from homes in individual ownership or the ownership of mortgage companies; and believes that all housing is part of the infrastructure built for social purposes, and should be undifferentiated by tenure.
