Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Pete Wishart (Scottish National Party), on Wednesday, 14 May 2003, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 7 members in total.
CAIRNGORMS NATIONAL PARK
That this House welcomes the establishment of the UK's largest National Park situated in the Cairngorms; notes the appalling decision to exclude Highland Perthshire from the parks boundaries, despite recommendations from Scottish Natural Heritage for its inclusion; further notes that the boundary will now run across the top of the Perthshire hills, with one side in the park and the other out; believes that the decision to exclude Perthshire is designed solely to exclude Perth and Kinross Council from the planning authority; further believes that National Park boundaries should be determined on a geographic not political basis; and asks the new Scottish Executive to look at the boundaries once again and reinstate Highland Perthshire within the park boundaries.
