Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Tom Harris (Labour), on Thursday, 15 May 2003, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 24 members in total.
SCOTLAND'S FIRST MINISTER
That this House welcomes the re-election of Jack McConnell as Scotland's First Minister and the re-establishment of a Labour-led coalition administration in Edinburgh; and further welcomes the decision of the Scottish electorate decisively to turn its back on the Scottish National Party and its discredited, irrelevant and expensive policy of separatism.

- leave out all from 'House' to end and add 'notes the re-election of Jack McConnell as Scotland's First Minister, who led the Scottish New Labour campaign to its worst ever result in Scotland since 1931; notes that Scottish New Labour managed to lose six of its first past the post seats, three to the Scottish National Party, including seats in the cities of Aberdeen and Dundee; notes that the Scottish National Party secured its third ever highest share of the poll resulting in nine first past the post MSP's; and looks forward to the Westminster election where if this result is replicated would mean several honourable Labour members joining their colleagues made redundant in the boundary review.'.
